About this objectDiggers built by the Laman brothers in Cromarty Bay. Powered by a 15hp Atlas petrol motor she was a war horse on the waters of Port Stephens.
In 1938 she was substantially rebuilt by the Phillips family and her engine was replaced with a 30hp Benz Diesel, transferred from the "Stella Maris".
Some 12 months later “Diggers” was commandeered by the Navy for the war effort and was taken by ship up to Darwin. Unfortunately, she was sunk during the Japanese air attack on Darwin.
