About this object"Anata" - Launch towing punts. Anata was owned by Fred Phillips.
All oyster growers depended very heavily on the reliability of their launches. Apart from transport the launches were required to tow punts laden with oyster sticks, piles of oysters, heavy timber and anything else that required moving within the port. The oystermen were master mechanics as any breakdown meant a loss of productivity. The "Anata" was the first launch owned and operated by Fred Phillips. As the interests and involvement of the Phillips family grew so to did their fleet of launches.
